Back to: The Mustard Seed (A Study Of The Laws)
It blows my mind how this all-powerful God who created the sun, that can burn you instantly or the oceans that can destroy cities within seconds, can call us, fragile, small, and finite human beings, His most prized possession. But the answer to this mystery is quite simple really and is found in: Genesis 1: 27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
We are set apart, unique and precious to God because He put a part of Himself inside of us. Nothing else in creation was created in this way. Everything else was spoken and materialized however we were formed and breathed into existence in the very image of God! That is a big deal.
Mankind, humankind, and humanity are collective designations for all humans—creatures who are made in God’s image, a characteristic that distinguishes men and women from the animals and from the Creator God Himself.
While sharing a common humanity, the man and the woman are unique and complementary rather than identical. This complementarity, in turn, reflects a facet of God’s own nature. God, too, is a unity within diversity (three in one- Father, Son & Spirit).
5 Things You Should Know about the Bible’s Teaching on Men and Women

Having been created male and female, we are husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, brothers, and sisters. Therefore, the way in which we live our lives is in and through our divinely created gender identities. These gender identities, in turn, are not merely superficial but run deep, affecting who we are as persons, family members, church members, and citizens. While the gospel extends to all of us, we are always living our lives through our godly defined roles as men or women.
Genesis 1: 27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 2: 5-9 “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being”
Genesis 2: 18-20, ““It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
