One of the first questions many new Christians ask is, “Now that I believe in Jesus, what do I do about the ‘secular’ parts of my life? Do I need to leave them behind?”
It’s a fair question. There’s often a misconception that only pastors, missionaries, or full-time church workers are truly doing “the Lord’s work.” But here’s the good news: that’s not true. In God’s Kingdom, every part of life can be sacred — yes, even your 9-to-5 job, your studies, your parenting, or your creativity.
The Bible itself is full of examples. God used builders like Noah, administrators like Joseph, farmers like Ruth, artisans like Bezalel, and government officials like Daniel. None of them were priests, yet every single one played a vital role in God’s story.
So what does this mean for you as a new believer?
👉 Your workplace becomes your mission field. The way you work with excellence can reflect God’s character.
👉 Your kindness becomes a witness. Every interaction is an opportunity to show His love.
👉 Your integrity speaks loudly. In a world full of shortcuts, honesty shines as His truth.
👉 Your influence plants seeds. Seeds of hope that He can water and grow in ways you may never even see.
Being a Christian isn’t about escaping the “secular world” or hiding from culture. It’s about showing up fully present, fully surrendered, and fully aware that Christ is with you wherever you are.
So the next time someone tells you your daily life doesn’t matter to God, remind them: your desk, your tools, your meetings, your art, and even your conversations — they are just as holy as a pulpit when they’re placed in His hands.
💡 Remember this: You are doing Kingdom work wherever He has planted you.
