The Holy Trinity

The Big Idea:

To teach you the importance of who God is and show you the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in their unity and how they saved us.

Study Scripture:

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me.” – John 14 :10

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.” – Deuteronomy 6:4

The Story:

Imagine your family! You have a mom, a dad, and maybe even a brother or sister. Each person in your family is special and loved, but they all come together to make your family complete.

In the same way, God is like a family too, but a much bigger and more awesome one! There’s God the Father, who created everything. There’s Jesus, God’s Son, who came to Earth to show us God’s love. And there’s the Holy Spirit, kind of like an invisible helper sent from God to be with us all the time.

Here’s the tricky part: even though they’re separate like your family members, they’re all still God – one God in three parts! It’s a bit like water: it can be a liquid, ice, or vapor, but it’s all still water. We can’t fully understand it yet, but that’s okay! The important thing is that God loves us all very much.

Reflective Questions:

  1. How is the Holy Trinity like a family, according to the story we read?
  2. How can the Holy Spirit be an invisible helper? Can you think of times when you might need help, even if you can’t see the helper?
  3. Who is the Holy Trinity?
  4. What role does Jesus play?
