If you were to ask me in high school what I wanted to study after matric, theology would have never been my answer!
I’ve never been a bible buff. I’m sure most people will agree that there is something so intimidating about the bible that even the thought of reading it makes you want to run the other way. So, I shied away from the Holy book for most of my life. At the time, my knowledge of The Word was purely based on the few verses that a pastor would share with the congregation, on the Sundays I visited church.
So how did I become a bible teacher you ask, great question! Truth be told, I still ask myself that question.
I love reading fiction but one day I felt compelled to start studying the Word of God and instead of being intimidated, and weighed down by its depth, I became fascinated. The stories just started jumping out at me with such intensity, compelling me to seek, search and the Holy Spirit was there every step of the way, helping me understand.
So, here I am. Obsessed with God and His Word, to the point that that all I want to do is consume it, daily.
I couldn’t keep this knowledge to myself, so I was inspired to start teaching the revelations revealed by the Holy Spirit to my loved ones and later to a diverse group of individuals who are willing to hear the Word of God and be transformed by it.
I also have the privilege of being a volunteer Sunday School teacher on alternate Sundays at our local church. This gives me the opportunity to share God’s Word with what I consider the best audience ever, the little ones! I also share my understanding of Scripture on various social platforms.
I didn’t go to seminary school, or study theology through any formal institution. I certainly don’t consider myself a seasoned theologian, but I know that I have an insatiable appetite for the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit by His grace, interprets it to me, revealing truths that I feel compelled to share, to anyone I’m led to, and who will listen.
I love teaching what I have learned from the Bible. I’m a bible teacher, not self-proclaimed, but Spirit empowered.
